In early 2020, remote work quickly became the default for millions of people. Designers, developers, founders, and creators started sharing photos of their desks online — not just images, but small windows into how people were actually working day to day.
Those moments stuck with me.
"These weren't just desk photos. They were a glimpse into how the people I admired actually spent their days."
So on April 5, 2020, I published the first edition of Workspaces. One setup, a few photos, a gear list. That was it.
Workspaces has grown into a living archive of 500+ real workspace tours from people working across tech, design, writing, and creative industries. Every setup is submitted by the person who actually uses it — an honest look at the desks, tools, and environments that support their work.
Some setups are minimal. Some are highly refined and cost more than my car. Many evolve over time. Together, they show the wide range of ways people build spaces that help them focus, create, and do their best work.
2020
First issue published on April 5th. 1 setup, a handful of subscribers.
2021
Reached 100 setups and 5,000 subscribers. Workspaces finds its format.
2023
10,000+ subscribers. 300+ workspaces in the archive. First sponsors.
2025
18,800+ subscribers. 500+ setups. The largest real workspace archive on the internet.
Every feature on Workspaces follows the same format — photos of a guest's real workspace, background on the person behind it, a full gear list, and a short Q&A about how they work. No staging, no sponsored furniture, no stock photos.
Just real spaces from real people.
Workspaces is for anyone who cares about their work environment. Whether you're setting up your first home office, upgrading your desk, designing a creative studio, or simply curious to see how your peers work — there's something here for you.
New workspace tours are published every Saturday morning, continuing the same idea the project started with: documenting the spaces where modern work actually happens.
