Workspace Gear and Tools
M1 Macbook Pro
M4 iPad Pro (I use it as a second monitor and also for sketching)
Jack, our 4-year-old Border Collie :)
What is the most recent item that you've added to your workspace?
The Fezibo standing desk. I bought my previous desk during the pandemic when everything was hard to get and overpriced. So I held onto it longer than I should have even though I really didn't like it.
How do you spark creativity?
Often, by trying to recreate a piece of work that I like. I'm not trying to copy it and use it as my own, but rather to learn the details of how it's made. When it comes to music, learning to play a song someone else wrote often inspires a new idea as I fumble my way through learning it. Similarly, with design, taking a screenshot and trying to recreate it helps me see things I wouldn't notice just by browsing the web.
What does your typical day look like?
If the weather is good, I go outside and take my dog for a walk around the block as soon as I get out of bed. Getting 10 minutes of fresh air and sunshine wakes me up better than anything, even coffee. When I get home, I start the coffee, help get the kids ready, and then join our morning standup call. After that, I create a list of 2 or 3 things to focus on for the day and dive into work for a few hours. Then I take a break for lunch and take my dog for a walk to the park where we play frisbee. My afternoons are usually pretty focused, but I try to get outside again for at least 15 minutes. In the evening, I make dinner for our family and then try to squeeze in a longer walk or a mountain bike ride, especially in the warmer months.
