What is the most recent item that you've added to your workspace?
That would be the KUXIU X38 Pro Max iPad charging stand. I often use my iPad Pro as a second screen utilising Universal Control when using my MacBook Pro.
I previously had my iPad Pro on a CharJenPro Magflött stand, which was great and matched the Apple aesthetic that I was going for, but I wanted to free up some additional desk space. I came across the KUXIU magnetic charging stand which uses the three pins on the rear of the iPad to charge, freeing up the USB-C port for other peripherals. This, paired with a Meross smart power strip, I have an automation set up so that when the iPad Pro’s battery level drops below 20%, it turns the plug on and when it hits 100%, turns it off to ensure my iPad Pro never runs out of juice or remains on charge for longer than necessary.
My one and only gripe about it is that it only comes in Space Grey colour, which goes against all the other silver/white colour schemed items I have on my desk.
What is one change you'd like to make to your current workspace?
I am not sure I’ll ever truly be finished with how my workspace looks - I’ll always be looking at ways of improving, taking inspiration from others I see on YouTube, X or websites such as this.
I try to keep my desk space as clutter free, which is why I’ve added mounts under my desk to hold both my personal and work laptops. But I’d really like to add more greenery to my desk space.
Having seen some fantastic workspaces such as Luboš Volkov, Mattia Giannattasio and Matthew Encina’s setups whereby adding some plant life to the workspace can help bring some of the outside in - especially in the long winter months.
Working in healthcare (albeit insurance) I’ve always had a focus on maintaining good health, be that through exercise, diet or any other aspect of day-to-day life that you can have a positive impact on - especially mental health. The Phillip’s Hue table lamp I find helps as the warmth of the bulb changes throughout the day to help with focus when working and relaxing of an evening.
What does your typical day look like?
Since COVID, I work from home most days - occasionally having to travel for client meetings or into the office. As such, I wanted to ensure that when I am working from home, my workspace was somewhere I was comfortable to spend up to 8 hours a day in.
I’m usually up at 06:30, making a coffee before heading to the gym and preparing for the workday ahead.
I’m a bit of a self-declared nerd in my spare time, which is where the old Mac mini and iPods come in and the desk is split in two. I am definitely going through a bit of a retro tech love-in at the moment, and am trying to have a break away from streaming services such as Apple Music where I can. I often have music playing from one of the iPods on the iPod HiFi and have spent some time over the years curating a music library on the 2009 Mac mini that comes filled with nostalgia to help keep my mood up whilst working.
Of an evening I spend time with my girlfriend, watching TV, relaxing playing PlayStation or some other way of unwinding after a long day.
If you enjoyed this edition of Workspaces, please consider sending it to someone that you think would love it just as much! ❤️
