Workspace Setup
What’s the biggest change you’ve made to your workspace since your last feature?
The biggest change? I completely reimagined the whole space. I swapped out my side speakers for Apple's Studio Display, and honestly, it transformed everything. The screen is gorgeous and now serves as the focal point of the entire setup. What really elevated things was working with Ugmonk on their Gather and Analog systems. It's incredible how good organization can make you actually enjoy being at your desk. I've also been mixing in some vintage pieces like this authentic radio and an orange retro lamp. There's something about older designs that just has more character than most modern stuff.I used to think minimalism meant having less, but now I realize it's more about choosing the right things. Everything here has a purpose and adds to the vibe. The vintage touches give the space personality without making it feel cluttered. It's clean but not boring, you know?
Looking back, how has your setup evolved to better match your workflow?
Despite being obsessed with the latest tech, the biggest workflow change was going back to basics with pen and paper. Every morning before I dive into work, I write out my main tasks for the day on actual paper. Sounds old school, right? But here's the thing - when everything's digital, it's so easy to get lost scrolling through apps or falling down random internet rabbit holes. Having this simple piece of paper with just my tasks keeps me honest. No notifications, no distractions, just what I need to get done. Plus, there's something really satisfying about physically crossing things off a list. Way better than checking a digital box. It's like my brain gets a little reward each time. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best ones.
Is there anything you removed from your workspace recently that made a surprising difference?
Definitely the speakers. They sounded amazing, but honestly, they were taking up so much visual space on the desk. The Studio Display's built-in speakers are surprisingly good - way better than I expected from a monitor. And when I'm doing serious editing work, I'm using headphones anyway, so having these massive speakers felt a bit overkill.
The trade-off was totally worth it. The desk looks so much cleaner now, and I don't miss them as much as I thought I would. Sometimes less really is more.
What’s a tool, gadget, or piece of software that you can’t imagine working without today?
Without a doubt, my MacBook Pro M4 Pro. Switching from the bigger version was a total game changer, especially when I'm working on the go. This thing is an absolute beast - it handles everything I throw at it, from heavy video editing to running multiple apps simultaneously, but it's still portable enough that I actually want to carry it around.
